How to Play: Pregnant 3s
Description:
Pregnant 3s Poker is a fun and quirky variant of poker that introduces wild cards and special rules involving the number 3. It is typically played in casual home games and adds an extra layer of excitement with its unique twists.
Objective
The objective of Pregnant 3s Poker is to win the pot by having the best five-card poker hand or by making your opponents fold through strategic betting.
Game Setup
- Each player is dealt five hole cards face down.
- Players can exchange up to three cards after the initial betting round.
- Threes are wild cards and can be used as any card the player chooses.
- Additional rules involving threes (such as a special bonus for having multiple threes or numbers divisible by 3, i.e. 6’s and 9’s also being wild) can be decided before the game starts.
Betting Rounds
Initial Deal and First Betting Round
After receiving their five hole cards, players can bet, call, raise, or fold. Betting starts with the player to the left of the dealer.
Card Exchange
Players have the opportunity to exchange up to three of their hole cards for new ones from the deck. Another round of betting follows, starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
Final Betting Round
After the card exchange, a final round of betting occurs. Players can bet, call, raise, or fold, starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
The Showdown
After the final betting round, remaining players reveal their hole cards. The player with the best five-card hand, including any wild threes, wins the pot.

- Bonus for Threes: Players can decide before the game starts if there will be a special bonus or payout for having multiple threes (e.g., three 3s could earn an extra bonus).
- Additional House Rules: Depending on the group, additional house rules can be created to make the game more interesting. These rules should be agreed upon before the game begins.
Tips for Playing
- Use the wild threes strategically to improve your hand, but be aware that others have the same opportunity.
- Pay attention to the betting patterns of your opponents to gauge the strength of their hands, especially since wild cards can make strong hands more common.
