How to Play: Crazy Pineapple
Description:
Crazy Pineapple is a variation of Texas Hold’em poker with a twist. Here’s how to play:
Setup:
- Gather 2 to 8 players.
- Use a standard 52-card deck.
- Each player receives three hole cards instead of two.
- Deal three cards face-down to each player.
- Followed by a round of betting.
Flop:
- After the first betting round, the dealer places three community cards face-up on the table (the “flop”).
- Another round of betting follows. At this point all remaining players MUST discard one of their cards, leaving them with only 2 cards to play.
Turn:
- After the second betting round, the dealer adds a fourth community card (the “turn” or “fourth street”).
- Players bet again.
River:
- Finally, after the third betting round, the dealer places a fifth and final community card (the “river” or “fifth street”).
- Last round of betting.
Showdown:
Remaining players reveal their hole cards to determine the best five-card poker hand using exactly two of their hole cards and three of the community cards.
Winning:
The player with the highest-ranking hand wins the pot.
Crazy Pineapple Variants:
There are variations of Crazy Pineapple, such as Crazy Pineapple Hi-Lo 8 or Better, which follows the same rules but splits the pot between the best high hand and the best low hand (if eligible).
