Description:
Badeucy Poker is an intriguing hybrid poker game that combines elements of Deuce Badugi and Deuce-to-Seven (2-7) Triple Draw. This game is a split-pot format, meaning the pot is divided between the best Deuce Badugi hand and the best Deuce-to-Seven lowball hand. Badeucy is typically played with 2 to 7 players using a standard 52-card deck.
Objective
The objective of Badeucy Poker is to create the best possible low hand according to both Deuce Badugi and Deuce-to-Seven rules. Players aim to have the best hand in both categories to maximize their share of the split pot. ACES ARE BAD and considered high cards in this game!
Hand Rankings
Badeucy uses two distinct hand ranking systems:
- Deuce Badugi Hand: In Deuce Badugi, the goal is to have the lowest possible four-card hand, with all cards of different suits and ranks. The best Deuce Badugi hand is 2-3-4-5 of different suits. (Note that ACES are high in this game)
- Deuce-to-Seven (2-7) Triple Draw Hand: In Deuce-to-Seven lowball, the goal is to have the lowest possible five-card hand. Aces are high, and straights and flushes count against the hand. The best 2-7 hand is 2-3-4-5-7 with no associated flush.
Gameplay
The game involves several rounds of drawing and betting:
- Each player is dealt five cards.
- First betting round begins, starting with the player to the left of the dealer.
- Players can draw up to five new cards, discarding unwanted cards and receiving replacements from the deck.
- Second betting round begins.
- Players can draw again up to five new cards.
- Third betting round begins.
- Players can draw one final time, up to five new cards.
- Final betting round begins.
- Showdown: Remaining players reveal their hands, and the pot is split between the best Deuce Badugi hand and the best Deuce-to-Seven hand.
Strategy Tips
- Pay attention to the cards discarded by other players, as this can give you an idea of what they are aiming for.
- Balance your focus between creating a strong Badugi hand and a strong Deuce-to-Seven hand to maximize your chances of winning the split pot.
- Be cautious with betting and drawing strategies, as aggressive play can sometimes signal a strong hand to your opponents.
Conclusion
Badeucy Poker is a challenging and dynamic poker variant that tests your skills in two different lowball formats simultaneously. With the right strategy and a bit of luck, you can master this unique game and enjoy its strategic depth and excitement.
